We plant most of our seeds in to a Gravel Media.
We start with the plastic pot.
Which we half fill with the larger gravel, our gravel is Volcanic Cinder that we get from under our feet and has great Surface Area, the purpose of this large gravel is to support the root structure of the seeding as it begins to grow. We then almost fill with smaller grave, make a small divit to hold the single seed, cover this seed with just a few of the small rocks to hide it from the sun to aid in germination.
Our Gravel Media
- We get our gravel by using the rocks under our feet.
- We sift to remove all the large rocks leaving everything smaller than 10mm.
- We do a second wash and sift to give us two piles, everyhting under 5mm and 5mm-10mm.
- We do a final wash and sift of the 5mm and smaller in a metal coninder to remove all the dirt.
These go in to our Floating Rivers.
